This is the inside of one of the bungalows constructed around the early 1980s, in the hospital grounds, to support residents in living more independently. Eight of these prefabricated units were 'hastily erected' to compensate for the immediate closure of the Richard Smith Ward - shut down in 1978 by the Regional Health Authority which was appalled at its poor condition.
