The photograph is of Bill Lamb ('Busty'), a former resident, on the left, with a staff member, at the annual Silverdale Camp. He was a senior member of the Pathfinders - the hospital's own scouting troop - for many years. (Photograph, taken in the late 1960s, courtesy of Malcolm Alston)

Summary:

In this short video extract, filmed in the early 1990s, Bill Lamb talks about arriving at the Royal Albert in the 1910s as a very young child from Durham Workhouse. His arrival pre-dates the building of Barlow Home which from the 1930s was the ward used for young boys. Along with BIll is Frank Cochrane (a former resident) and two tutors (Steve Mee and Dave Spencer) along with an audience of student nurses. (Courtesy of Steve Mee)
