Caption:
This is a view of the Royal Albert looking south-south west, the photograph being taken from the site of the present day Haverbreaks Housing Estate. Written on the back of this photograph is: 1. Royal Albert Institution.
It was only on January 20th 1910 it became called The Royal Albert Institution. Previously it had always been called the Royal Albert Asylum, a fact which dates this image as probably being after 1910 (© Lancashire County Museums Service Ref. LMRAH 389).
