Summary:
Renee Garth was a nurse at the Royal Albert from the late 1950s up until it closed in 1996. In a recorded interview on September 27th 2006 she recalls her impressions of wardlife - maybe 1970s - for the male residents. She notes that a major difference between the wards was ‘the number of patients. I mean some wards you get a whole lot of males, on a male ward they’d all be sitting round the room, sitting down… Well there would be so many just sitting doing nothing a lot of them… I don’t think I worked a lot on those wards… I was mostly involved in the female side, you see.'
